Our partnerships
Bohus Elfsborgh's Carolines
Kongelige Bohus Elfsborghs Caroliner (KBEC) is a partner of Bohus Fortress. KBEC is an association with the ambition to bring history to life on the west coast from the Middle Ages until 1720 when the official period of great power ends. Bohus Fortress is the perfect place to practice living history and KBEC has had the opportunity to participate in many different contexts. At Bohus Fortress, the voices of a bygone era still echo. To make the sense of historical context and closeness to history, KBEC is a seasoning ingredient that allows the visitor to make an experience not only to look at, but also to feel, listen and smell.
Marieberg farm shop
Marieberg’s farm shop offers farm-produced beef, lamb and pork from the farm’s own animals. The farm is located less than 700 meters from Bohus Fortress and is our main food supplier. In the courtyard you will find their food cart where they grill and sell delicious burgers made from organic ingredients.
At Mariebergs gård you will find all kinds of animals that belong on a Swedish farm. The farm dates back to the 13th century and the Karmark family manages it with great passion and traditional values.
Sisterhood of Magic
Sisterhood of Magic, the fortress’ own witches! They can usually be found in Father’s Hat telling fortunes in cards and runes or standing on Witch Hill selling their crafts. Sometimes you can even see them perform a drumming ceremony.
Rumexa Ulventjärn and Tilia Vala are two women from Bohuslän who follow the Nordic cycle and try to live in harmony with nature.
Black Magic Fools
The Black Magic Fools from Gothenburg play both hard-hitting folk metal and acoustic medieval music. The band plays at everything from metal festivals to medieval markets around Sweden and Germany.
Nowadays, the band can also call itself the house band at Bohus Fortress, where many gigs have been played over the years. A music video has also been filmed at the fortress.
Bohuslän guides
Bohusläns Guider is an association of authorized and linguistic guides in Bohuslän. Some members have specialized in the Middle Ages and stories about the over 700-year history of Bohus Fortress. We add value to the visit by bringing the exciting history of the fortress to life with stories spiced with both royal glory and the miserable conditions of the prisoners, which provide memories that do not fade.
In medieval-inspired costumes, we conduct guided tours for children and adults, as well as companies and associations.
Kungälv rowing club
Kungälv Rowing Club (KRK) was founded in 1931. Since its inception, the rowing club has been a natural part and gathering place on Fästningsholmen with a deep connection to many Kungälv residents.
Rowing is one of the few sports where you can train individually, in teams and in mixed classes. It’s also a fantastic natural experience to be on the water!
